Where is Crescent Island?

“Crescent Island” is located southeast of Crooked Island and northeast of Double Island, which is part of The Double Haven marine Park. There is a beach at the north side of the island, called “Crescent Bay Beach”, which is is very suitable for beginners to snorkel because of its U-shaped inner bay. You can find a large coral area with a wide range of marine life here. In addition to Crescent Island, the opposite Double Island is also a perfect place for snorkeling, where you will find a large coral area!

Attractions in Crescent Island

Crescent Island Peak：Hung Fa Leng 139m

Hung Fa Leng is located on Point (6) of the Crescent Island Map above, it’s the highest point of Crescent Island. On the Peak, you can see Wang Mun and Chik Mun, which are two famous sea strait in Hong Kong. There is no official hiking trail that can reach Hung Fa Leng, some experienced hikers will choose to follow a hidden trail in Lo Kei Wan and hike along the ridge to visit Hung Fa Leng.

Mountain Arch： “Immortal Stove Arch”

There is a Mountain Arch in Crescent Island, located on Point (4) of Crescent Island Map above. It is by far the only mountain arch I found so far here in Hong Kong, unlike many sea arches in Hong Kong, it is believed that this arch is formed because of weathering erosion as well as some other crustal movement.

Rock Formation： “Wu Pai”

“Wu Pai”is a flat reef located on Point (1) of Crescent Island Map above, which is in front of the Crescent Island Beach. It is said that Wu Pai is named probably because the reef looks like a flathead grey mullet. In Summer, Snorkelers and Divers loves to travel here as there is a wide variety of coral species and marine life.

Sea Cave： “Hok Wan Tsui Cave”

Hok Wan Tsui Cave is located on Point (2) of the Crescent Island Map above, it is a large sea cave with two small sea caves inside. This sea cave in Crescent Island is spectacular as normally, a sea cave is just a sea cave, but it is a cave in a cave. However, it is not easy to get to Hok Wan Tsui, since there is no hiking trail to Hok Wan Tsui, the only way is to coasteering from Crescent Island Beach, which requires you to combine hiking, climbing and swimming to get there.

There is a beach on the north side of Crescent Island, called “Crescent Bay Beach”, which is is very suitable for beginners to snorkel because of its U-shaped inner bay.
